Stripped: 2000 Acura Integra Type R

My Phoenix Yellow 2000 Acura Integra Type R (seen here in better times) was stolen from the parking lot of my place of employment in Boulder, Colorado the afternoon of Wednesday, April 9th 2003. The only available shots from our security cameras showed it still in the lot at 3:27PM (see the lower left corner of the photo), and gone at 4:17PM. It was found a few days later on the morning of Monday, April 14th abandoned in a suburban Aurora, Colorado neighborhood.

I took these photos at M & M Towing in Aurora the morning the car (or more accurately, what was left of the car) was found. I was told by Detective Patterson of the Boulder Police that this was the most completely stripped car he had ever seen. Of course the engine and transmission are gone, but so are the steering and exhaust systems and chassis braces; even the clock and airbags are gone. The surgical gloves in the engine compartment in this picture actually belong to Detective Patterson, but he reports that there were others in the car left by the thieves.

The wheels and tires on the car are all spares mounted by the thieves in order to tow the chassis to the neighborhood where it was dumped. Humorously enough, the insurance adjuster reported the amount of wear on the tires, assuming that they were the originals.
